I wanted to take this opportunity to give people a couple of updates on the pool.

I realize that the pool gate doesn’t look the best in the world right now.  The good news is that it is functioning correctly and closing the way it is supposed to close by self latching even from a close distance.  We installed a Kant Slam device on the outside of the gate to push it closed and because of this we had to remove the wood on the exterior of the gate.  Gwinnett County is being much stricter about gates closing and latching automatically in 2012.  They will fine us and shut us down for a major violation like a gate that does not close and I’m happy that we were able to get it working after a lot of tinkering.  Thanks to Brandon Hyder, Bobby Chapman and Clay Abney for putting in some time to fix the gate.  We hope to take down the boards that are on the gate currently and install steel mesh so that you will be able to see who is on the other side of the gate when entering or exiting the pool.

One of the lights in the pool is not functioning correctly.  This is the reason the no night swimming sign was posted by the Archer Brothers at the direction of the county.  We believe that the light got flooded with water and is no longer good.  The cost to fix it is $300 plus.  We do not plan to fix it this year.  Instead, we plan to close the pool between 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.  For those who do not know, we have been closing the parking lot to the pool and chaining the pool gate on a nightly basis to prevent unwanted loitering at night.  If you see someone at the pool after dark, please call 911 and tell them that you see a suspicious vehicle.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
